SEAARK BOATS PROVIDES HURRICANE RELIEF SUPPLIES IN LOUISIANA

MONTICELLO, AR (September 8, 2020) – On Friday, the SeaArk Boats Team gathered and donated supplies for Hurricane Laura victims. The SeaArk team transported the supply filled trailer to Iowa, Louisiana on Saturday, September 5th with the help of the Monticello community.

Caroline Martinez, SeaArk Boats Human Resource Manager, found the need through a Facebook post and in three days gathered enough goods to carry to Iowa Police Department and Living Waters Church. SeaArk Boats provided $750 worth of non-perishable foods along with the manpower to help with the dispersal of supplies.

Martinez said, “At SeaArk we have a heart for others; and when we can, we want to make life better for others. It was great to see my fellow coworkers want to volunteer time to help those in need regardless of the holiday weekend. Having the ability to invest in philanthropy is what makes our team energized to make better and more boats.”

Hurricane Laura made landfall on August 27th on the U.S. Gulf Coast. It intensified within 24 hours from a category 1 to a strong category 4 on the Saffir Simson scale. Laura made landfall with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph (241 km/h). In terms of wind speed, it was the strongest storm to hit Louisiana since 1856.

President of SeaArk Steve Henderson stated, “When Caroline brought a serving opportunity to SeaArk, we knew we wanted to help. There are so many people that were affected by Hurricane Laura we know there is a big need. It’s this type of proactiveness within our company culture in finding opportunities inside and outside of our community that humbles me every day.”
